Crispy, golden, and healthier than traditional deep-fried fries.
A simple, flavorful alternative made with less oil.
Ingredients:
- 2 medium russet potatoes (about 400 g total)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt, or to taste
- Water, enough to cover the potatoes
Paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper are optional. Feel free to omit them or substitute any other seasonings you prefer.
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven: Preheat to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare the potatoes: Wash the potatoes and cut them into wedges or thin fries.
- Boil the potatoes: Place the potatoes in a pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 5–10 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces, until they are tender but not falling apart. A fork should pierce them with slight resistance.
- Drain and dry: Carefully drain the potatoes and let them steam-dry for a few minutes. Pat them dry gently with a clean towel to remove excess moisture.
- Season: In a bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Arrange: Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between the pieces.
- Bake: Bake for 25–35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve: Let them cool slightly and enjoy while warm.
Pro Tip: Parboiling the potatoes before baking helps create a soft interior and a crispy exterior. Drying them thoroughly and avoiding overcrowding the baking sheet helps them become even crispier.
